Forced Labour In Venezuela
Venezuelan socialism, once praised by Corbyn and Abbott, now turns to forced labour for food production.
Why does socialism always fail so spectacularly? Two main reasons I will mention here: 1) It centralises too much power in the hands of a few who are either corrupt, incompetent and certainly not clever enough to plan and run an economy to meet the needs of every individual, and 2) it eventually infringes human freedoms so that it becomes harder for individuals to effectively pursue their own interests to the degree it even impacts their ability to provide for and support themselves.
The myth of socialism is what people believe in when they start down this road, the reality is what they discover when what was previously plentiful, becomes a shortage, becomes hours of queuing, becomes famine and starvation, becomes forced labour.
We have over 100 years of seeing socialism be tried and fail with disastrous consequences for ordinary people while the politicians and elites live in relative luxury. Reject socialism, retain your liberties so you can provide for yourself and stand independent of state control.
Venezuela issued a decree that “effectively amounts to forced labor” in an attempt to stabilize a food shortage, says an Amnesty International report.
